Welcome at the "Neustaedter Volkstanzkreis e.V."!
The first Folkdancing Festival in Neustadt/Holstein in the year 1951 was reasonable for the foundation of the "Neustaedter Volkstanzkreis". Our aim is to preserve and present German folkdancing and folkmusic - especially dances and music from Northern Germany.
In 1951 the group counted only 12 members. Now we can be proud to be one of the largest Costume Dance Groups in Germay with about 200 members; 105 of whom are active. The active members are divided up into several groups:
Kleiner Kreis children aged from 4 years
Mittlerer Kreis teens between 14 and 18 years
Grosser Kreis adults, 18 years and older
We are especially proud of our musician group which enables us to perform at most of our engagements to live music.
We wear the milkmaid costum of Testorf manor in East Holstein, North Germany, and a fishermans costume derived from the traditional native Neustadt fishermans costume.
The "Neustaedter Volkstanzkreis" has become popular through its many performances at home, in Germany, abroad or in television. This success is a result of hard, disciplined work and practice - and it is a source of great fun an enjoyment for our members.
We are proud to have presented Neustadt, Est Holstein and Germany at folklore festivals in: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Netherlands, England, France, Greece, Hungary and Macedonia. And we have joined innumerable groups because of private invitations all over Europe.
